On the 30th November 1953, 18 Freemasons from the Ringwood area met in the old Ringwood Masonic Hall to discuss the possibility of forming a new Lodge. Many of those attending were also members of local churches and were keen to be part of a "dry" Lodge. After much discussion it was resolved that : - A "dry " Lodge be formed.
- The Lodge be called "Jonadab”.
- To meet in the Ringwood Masonic Hall on the – 4th Monday of each month.
- The Lodge of Rechab he requested to act as Sponsor Lodge.
- The Foundation Fee be ten pounds.
- The Joining Fee be three guineas.
- The Initiation Fee be twelve guineas.
- The Annual Fee be four guineas.
A further 5 meetings were held during 1954 at which matters regarding necessary work to form Jonadab Lodge were finalized including.- A general invitation to "unaffiliated " Freemasons to become Foundation members The selection of "principal" officers The opening of a bank account at the local branch of 'the "State Savings Bank" Drawing up, signing and submission of 'a Petition to form a new lodge to the United Grand Lodge of Victoria
A meeting to consider the Petition was held at Grand Lodge on 2nd September, 1954 and approval to form Jonadab Lodge was subsequently received and read to a meeting of the petitioners on 27th September, 1954. Jonadab Lodge was now in the formative stage enabling planning for the Consecration and Installation to proceed along with various Committee meetings and rehearsals. Following months of' planning, acquisition of necessary equipment and regalia, rehearsals and, finalization of' the first team Officers, Jonadab Lodge was Consecrated by Most Worshipful Brother Dr G. B. Bearham ProGM and Grand Officers at the Ringwood Masonic Hall on Friday, 2nd September 1955. During the first two years.Jonadab membership increased via the introduction of 18 Joining Members and 13 Initiates - the Lodge was off to a .flying start.
