Northern Melbourne Institute of TAFE (NMIT) in partnership with the Retail Cycle Traders Australia (RCTA) and Bicycle Training Australia (BTA) offers you the opportunity to undertake a three day training program including work experience in selected bike shops to gain the skills and knowledge needed to enter the Bicycle Industry. Prior to the summer season all bike shops require additional staff to meet the demands of the cycling public and it is this need that is driving this opportunity and the commitment from the RCTA that on the successful completion of the training each participant will be given every support to gain either part time or full time employment in the sector.
The course is structured around three Nationally Accredited competencies and as such will provide an credit pathway into the Certificates for Bicycle Mechanics if the participant wishes to continue study.
The course will be conducted by BTA in a formal two day block of training at Fairfield campus of NMIT followed by a number of days work experience over a two week period in a bike shop, culminating in a final day at NMIT.
The course content will address all the requirements to assemble, adjust and test a bike before sale and will cover the following fields of study.
· Remove and tag bicycle components
· Remove repair and fit bicycle tyres
· Remove, replace, fit and adjust bicycle accessories
